Meet the West Kent Steamers Staff! Below you’ll find our staff along with a brief bio on each person


Justin Blackmore

Justin was born and raised in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Justin played competitive hockey in the area while spending lots of time at local rinks and closely following junior hockey in the Maritimes. Justin was previously a scout for the Campbellton Tigers and he currently resides in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Outside of scouting, Justin works in HR for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and is Vice-President of Competitive Hockey for the Moncton Minor Hockey Association. He is currently completing his master’s degree at Université de Moncton.

Justin is happy to be back with the Steamers for a 3rd season and first as General Manager!

 

 

 

Olivier Fillion – Head Coach/GM

Olivier a été directeur hockey pour les 6 équipes et entraîneur-chef de l’équipe masculine U17 à Mount Academy. Olivier a fait ses preuves en ce sens qu’il est capable de construire un programme pour développer les athlètes et les promouvoir au niveau supérieur. Vingt-deux de ses joueurs ont été repêchés dans la LHJMQ au cours des 4 dernières saisons et plus de 30 joueurs jouent au hockey junior A à travers le Canada dans le but de jouer au hockey universitaire un jour.
Olivier Filion est originaire de Saint-Sauveur, au Québec, mais a passé la majeure partie de sa vie à voyager pour jouer au hockey. Repêché en deuxième ronde de la Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec par les Titans d’Acadie Bathurst, il a joué quatre ans dans la LHJMQ et demeure le meilleur marqueur de tous les temps pour les Titans. Il a ensuite participé à des camps d’entraînement de la LNH et de la LAH et a joué au hockey professionnel pendant dix ans pour des équipes du monde entier.

 For the past 4 years, Olivier has been the Hockey Director for all 6 teams and Head Coach of the U17 male team at Mount Academy. Olivier has a proven track record that he is able to build a program to develop athletes and promote them to the next level. Twenty-two of his players were drafted in the QMJHL during the past 4 seasons and more than 30 player are playing Junior A hockey across Canada with the goal of playing University hockey one day.
Olivier Filion is originally from Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, but has spent most of his life traveling to play hockey. Drafted in the second round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League by the Acadie Bathurst Titans, he went on to play four years in the QMJHL and is still the all-time leading scorer for the Titans. He then went on to attend NHL and AHL training camps and played professional hockey for ten years for teams from all over the world.

Dave Kennedy – Goalie Coach / Vice President 

Dave is one of New Brunswick’s most decorated Goalie Coaches having captured several National Championships at different levels including the Memorial and Telus Cups. Dave began coaching while playing U15 Hockey in Moncton New Brunswick at the age of 15.  He is the Director of the Atlantic Goaltending Academy (AGA). Dave brings 19 years of goalie coach experience at the U11, U13, U15, U18, Major Junior and CIS level, to the West Kent Steamers.

He is currently in his 12th season as the goaltending coach of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues Female Hockey Team where he captured an AUS Championship in 2014. In 2017 he also joined the Moncton Midget AAA Flyers as Goaltending Coach and Captured an Atlantic Championship in 2018 & 2022 as well as a Telus Cup National Championship in 2022 .

He was the Goaltending Coach for the Acadie Bathurst Titan for 4 seasons where he captured the President Cup and the 100th Memorial Cup in 2018.
